Who are the Franciscan Sisters of Saint Elizabeth
In the heart of the Upper Casentino, a place immersed in the beauty of Tuscany, a divine work arose one day: the Franciscan Sisters of Saint Elizabeth. It was right here, in the small hamlet of Casalino, that a new Religious Family took shape on May 26, 1888, guided by the flame of sacrifice and love.
Initially, their charitable work spread among the mountains of the Tuscan Apennines, at a time when public assistance structures were scarce and communication routes were limited. In those remote places, far from urban centers, the Sisters brought comfort and hope, sharing their love and dedication with those who were closest to them. they needed it.
The mission we carry out
Since then, the Institute of the Franciscan Sisters of Saint Elizabeth has passionately cultivated the mission of educating and training young people, caring for the sick and poor families, offering support to anyone in situations of extreme need. The work of these enlightened Sisters has been extended over the years, going beyond the Italian borders to reach distant lands.
Today, the Franciscan Sisters of St. Elizabeth are present not only in Italy, where it all began in 1888, but also in Bolivia, India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Israel and Vietnam. Every community is in which they are located represents a beacon of hope, a point of reference for those who seek love, assistance and compassion.
